Approached from the Bideford-Bradworthy road and not far from the village of Parkham in North Devon, this 17th century three-bedroom traditional character cottage sleeping up to five offers high quality self-catering accommodation for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, yet still have plenty to do and see nearby on those days when you feel like being more active.

Elegant Dining

You enter Crooked Lake Cottage via its dining room, a delightful room full of character and elegance with original beams and an ornamental, original fireplace. Light décor complements the dark beams, and elegant furniture adds further to its countryside charm. Central to this room is a splendid, large dining table, which comfortably seats up to six guests and provides a wonderful setting for enjoyable suppers after long days out exploring the local area.

Spacious Lounge

A spacious long lounge stretching from the front to the back of the cottage is packed with period charm, and features a beamed ceiling and an original open fireplace inset with a multi-fuel burner.

This lovely calm and tranquil room effortlessly combines its period charm with comfortable furnishings. There is a large sofa, comfy chairs, a TV with free Netflix - plenty to keep guests entertained and ample of space for everyone to relax and unwind together.

Sun Room

Accessed from the lounge, guests can enjoy a delightful sun room, furnished with a cane sofa and two armchairs. This is a fantastic space for guests to indulge in a relaxing cup of coffee or an afternoon tea whilst making the most of the sunshine and lovely views of the garden. Double doors lead out from the Sun Room to the main terrace.

Main Garden Terrace

Large double doors open out from the Sun Room onto the main terrace, where a paved and gravel patio hosts a huge garden table and enough seating for up to 5 guests. This pretty terrace provides the perfect spot for leisurely lunches or suppers ‘alfresco’ style, as it wonderfully catches the afternoon and evening sun.

Kitchen / Breakfast Room

A lovely countryside kitchen with a farmhouse feel is well-equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable self-catering holiday. Appliances include an electric oven and hob, a washer/dryer, a dishwasher, a large fridge/freezer and a microwave.

With a huge window overlooking the garden and a large table comfortably seating up to 5 guests, this charming kitchen provides a wonderful setting for family breakfasts or planning your day over a quick cup of tea.

Small Patio Area

From the kitchen, there is access to the beautiful southerly facing garden leading onto a smaller second patio area, where a set of garden chairs and a table provides the perfect spot to take advantage of the early morning sunshine and enjoy breakfast on the terrace.

Master Bedroom with En-suite

Upstairs, at the end of the hallway, a stunning and exceptionally spacious master bedroom boasts a double bed and plenty of storage. The en-suite bathroom features a newly fitted walk in shower.

Single Bedroom

Along the corridor, there is a pretty single bedroom overlooking the country lanes, which features a 3ft single bed, a dressing table with mirror and fitted cupboard space.

Twin Bedroom

The bright twin bedroom has plenty of character and charm and featuring two 3ft iron single beds, a free-standing wardrobe, a dressing table and a mirror. Huge windows boast gorgeous views of the garden.

Family Bathroom

The single and twin bedroom share the modern family bathroom, which has a bath with an electric shower overhead, a wash-basin and a WC.

The Gardens

This pretty traditional character cottage benefits from its own stunning mature garden, which is southerly facing. A natural running stream, called Lake with two bridges is located at the rear of the property, along with two lawned areas, bedded with mature shrubs and packed full of a beautiful array of natural flowers.

Due to its location in a unique valley of ancient woodland Nuthatches, Woodpeckers and Dormice are all residents of the area.

You will find plenty of garden furniture on two separate patio/terrace areas and a BBQ, allowing guests to really make the most of the sunshine and relax in this truly unique garden.
